Weekend staycation vibes with my bestie in Washington DC! ✨

We kicked off our getaway at the gorgeous @royalsonestacapitolhill Royal Sonesta Capitol Hill, where the chic rooms and rooftop views were everything we needed to unwind. The decor was super modern and chic.

Dinner was a total treat at @thecapitalgrille Capitol Grille—perfectly cooked steaks and amazing conversation! Not to mention we took advantage of their Generous Pour🥂

Then we ended the night dancing and sipping cocktails at STFU @stfu.navyyard in Navy Yard—such a fun spot to let loose and act like it was 2009 again. What a time 😌

As a wife and mom, it’s easy to get caught up in daily life, but making time for friendships brings balance and joy to it all. ❤️ This weekend was the reset I needed, and I’m so grateful for these moments. Take time for your friends, it’s so worth it! 💕

Finally had a chance to update one of our reading nooks in the house for the month of February. These are just some of the titles that reflect Valentine’s Day and Black History Month. We have so many books in the house, so consistently rotating them each month is important so the kids get a chance to explore different books each month. Switching up the reading buddies makes it fun too.

I feel like we try so hard to provide these unique (and sometimes costly) opportunities for our children because we think or we feel this underlying need to create experiences that we never had growing up as a child. When in reality some of our best childhood memories were just doing the simplest things with your family. Don’t get me wrong, I am making sure my children have the opportunity to travel at a young age and have access to experiences that were different from my childhood but I do my best with balancing that with the simple experiences like playing outside, cooking with me in the kitchen or having a slepover with their cousins (my persona favorite growing up). Snow days are a rare opportunity to slow down, disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life, and create memories with your children that will last a lifetime.

As you watch your little ones bundle up in their winter gear and eagerly run outside to play, the joy and excitement on their faces is contagious. Building snowmen, making snow angels, and having snowball fights are all classic winter activities that never get old. And the best part? You get to experience them all over again through your children’s eyes.

As you warm up inside with hot cocoa and cozy blankets, the memories of the day will continue to bring a smile to your face. These are the moments that make life worth living, and the memories that will stay with you forever. So next time a snow day rolls around, take a break from your busy schedule and embrace the magic of the season with your children.

It is important that you are doing an activity you both enjoy. We both try our best to take an interest in each others activities and finding ones that we both like. I like wine, food and shopping. Chris likes sports, games, and food. One thing we both can agree on is that FOOD needs to be involved! LOL.

✈️Traveling and trying new and exciting activities can be great when you have the coins but cooking at home together and doing a DIY project makes for a great way to connect.

Life gets super busy when you both have careers, kids, and other responsibilities so taking the time to reinforce your romantic bond is important so that you remember why you fell in love in the first place. Dating allows you to focus on each other without distractions. Be sure to take this time to do something that will hopefully allow you to relax and enjoy each others company.
